I said what I said.

Comedian Katt Williams, wearing a black and grey beanie, a black shirt jacket with a patterned butterfly collar, and a large medallion in the shape of a captain’s wheel, smiling during a podcast taping.

Yesterday I made a Facebook post critical of Katt Williams, after listening to about 45 minutes of his interview on Club Shay Shay, the video podcast series by former-NFL-receiver-turned-sports-and-entertainment-pundit Shannon Sharpe, who’s probably grateful that his current newsworthiness has nothing to do with his former Fox Sports co-host Skip Bayless. Among the various points of pushback that I received from friends who either partially or disagreed with my analysis, the one bit of criticism that I couldn’t refute was the fact that I made a judgment without listening to the rest of the podcast.

In my defense, that joker was long. At two hours and 46 minutes, it was three minutes longer than the latest Mission Impossible movie. But, unwilling to let that legitimate criticism undercut the point I was trying to make, I spent a good portion of the afternoon watching and listening while I attended to other work. Not only that, but I watched portions of several other interviews that Katt Williams referenced in this most recent one, including a notorious radio appearance in Atlanta where he mercilessly roasted the co-host, radio personality Wanda Smith.
